The Purpose of Kappa Delta Chi is to promote the traditional values of Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and Leadership among women at Southern Methodist University.

In the fall of 1998, a number of women gathered in Peyton Residence Hall to discuss the possibility of forming another sorority on campus. A need to expand the Multicultural Greek organizations at SMU motivated these ladies to take up a search. After much seeking, these ladies discovered the best...Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc.

The ladies continued to pursue their vision and worked hard to meet the requirements set before them by the National Organization and MGC. As a colony, study hours and service hours were kept. The colony put together their first "Fashion with Flava" fashion show during Hispanic Heritage month, they held their first social, participated in mentoring together, collaborated with other organizations for social events, and remained deeply involved with other extra-curricular activities at SMU. After exceeding their own expectations, the colony worked with Marrisa Ramirez to set a date for induction. The glorious day finally arrived. On December 2nd, 2001, the colony of SMU became the Upsilon chapter of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc.
